California Division Educators

Goal #1 of the AAMFT-CA Division Strategic Plan reads:

“Shaping the Profession: MFTs will share a unified identity and common understanding of the core scope and practice of Marriage and Family Therapy”.

The California Division Educators Collaborative, officially launched in 2004, has continued to evolve and grow. The establishment of professional identity and unity among MFTs is a major focus of the work of the Collaborative, now guided by an outstanding Steering Committee of leading MFT educators in our state.

The AAMFT-CA Division Educators' Collaborative was created to establish an active, statewide network of Marriage and Family Therapy Educators. The purposes of the AAMFT-CA Division Educators' Collaborative include:

  • Promote unification of the MFT professional culture in California.
  • Promote communication and collaboration.
  • Provide resources and information.

CALIFORNIA DIVISION EDUCATORS' COLLABORATIVE: Mission Statement; Purpose; Goals

  • MISSION STATEMENT
    The AAMFT-CA Division Educators' Collaborative was created to establish an active, statewide network of Marriage and Family Therapist Educators.
  • PURPOSE
    The purposes of the AAMFT-CA Division Educators' Collaborative are:
    • Promote communication and collaboration.
    • Provide resources and information. "
    • Promote unification of the MFT professional culture in California.
  • GOAL
    The AAMFT-CA Division Educators' Collaborative long term goal is the establishment of a centralized, organized, statewide force of educators and clinicians, with operational headquarters, committed to the following pursuits:
    • Serve as a resource center for educators in relation to MFT educational programs, curricula and research.
    • Secure funds or serve as a link to funds that provide opportunities for MFT students to qualify for stipends, loan forgiveness or other financial assistance programs.
    • Increase employment options for MFT graduate students and interns.
    • Formally strengthen the position of MFTs in the California public mental health system. "
    • Develop "One Voice" to provide effective representation in MFT educator advocacy efforts.
